Anticipating Your Questions

The following is a series of questions most commonly asked by those interested in becoming a SNAP Newspaper Group franchisee:

1. With the economic down-turn for “Newspapers” why would anyone consider purchasing a SNAP Newspaper Group Franchise?
SNAP is NOT a "newspaper" business. We are a media, marketing and relationship business. We do not publish “newspapers” in the regular sense of the word, but simply decided to label them as such because that is what the community most identified them with.  For our purposes quite frankly, we consider our print publications to be much more like a magazine or a monthly community “year-book”.  We attend positive and up-lifting events all over the community each month, taking photos, having fun and capturing the life and entertainment that exists all around us.   We are technologically savvy, focus on the community and generate results for our advertising partners.

2. What is the Franchise License Fee?
The Initial Franchisee License Fee is $49,500 for Tier 1 markets and $29,500 for Tier 2 markets.  In addition to the franchise license fee, new owners are also required to provide a training fee of $10,000, equipment fee of $15,000 and a technology fee of $15,000 for a total acquisition price of $89,500 and $69,500 for Tier 1 and Tier 2 markets respectively.

3. Is financing available from SNAP Corporate offices?
SNAP Newspaper Group does not provide financing, but can provide a contact with a financial institution to discuss the opportunity for financing.

4. Who selects the location?
We assist the Franchisee in the evaluation and selection of potential markets.

5. What is involved in the Set up and Computer training?
SNAP Newspaper Group uses a comprehensive and centralized customer relationship management (CRM) software application that assists with the ongoing coordination and management of the franchise business. This application was built in-house and has been custom designed to make the entire process of running a SNAP franchise as simple as possible.

6. Do I need any previous experience?
No, although an interest in people, your community, marketing and sales are definite assets, SNAP Newspaper Group looks for individuals with an understanding of general business principles, along with a satisfactory financial rating and the ability to invest in and support a SNAP franchise business. Our training program is designed to provide you with the knowledge and skills required to become a successful franchisee.

7. What are the qualities usually required?
To qualify for a franchise, applicants must demonstrate a strong desire to own and operate their own successful business. SNAP looks for high potential franchise owners who are committed to the business and to making it a success, as well as those with the experience or confidence to relate well to community members and advertisers within. The need for hard work in the operation of a profitable franchise cannot be over-emphasized.

8. How much money can I expect to make?
Franchising law prohibits all franchisors from answering this question. Profitability will depend considerably upon the franchisees ability to manage the day-to-day operations and finances as well as factors specific to each location and the potential for sales. We invite you to speak with our current franchisees to learn about their sales and profit numbers.

9. Who sets the operational procedures and policies?
The SNAP Operation Manual is supplied to every franchisee and clearly defines the standard policies and procedures to be followed in operating a SNAP franchise. The SNAP Operation Manual covers the many important aspects of your business operation. As manuals are updated, revisions will be sent to you.

10. What form of guidance does SNAP Corporation provide?
New Franchisees receive training for themselves and their key people for two (2) full Weeks including both practical and on-the-job instruction. Training will be provided at a SNAP location for 5 days and an additional 5 days at the Franchisees office or territory. On-going support is provided as needed by the Franchisor.
